1/27/2015 - The NCBA IP Section is hosting a rountable licensing discussion entitled "Understanding the Other Side of the Table." The event will feature panelists from NC State, Duke University, Red Hat, Lenovo, and more. 1.5 hours of CLE credit will be provided. More information is available at the link above. 



1/28/2015 - The NCBA IP Section is hosting a rountable discussion on "AIA prosecution - FITF Overview with Tips on Responding to Prior Art Rejections." The event will feature  Mary C. Till, JD and Senior Legal Advisor in the Office of Patent Legal Administration (OPLA) at the USPTO. Ms. Till has been involved with various aspects of implementation of the America Invents Act, having co-drafted the guidance on first inventor to file (FITF). She has been involved in all phases of implementing FITF provisions at the USPTO, including examiner training and IT implementation. This event will serve as an opportunity for a USPTO subject matter expert serving as Senior Legal Advisor, to present and engage members and guest of the NCBA IP section on the FITF provisions and updates since its implementation. The presentation will include statistics to date, the applicability of the provisions on patent applications filed today, statutory framework and a variety of example scenarios to illustrate both the applicability of the FITF provisions as well as tips for prosecuting applications filed under the FITF provisions.

3/22/2015 - The NCBA IP Section's annual one-day CLE conference is scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2015 in Cary, NC. The inimitable Tom Irving will be speaking again, as well as many others to be announced soon.
